The perfect iPhone Ringtone

Ringtones… so what’s the problem with them?
Well, if we’re talking about “real” or polyphonic ringtones, sometimes you just can’t hear them, they’re too soft… i’m sure you’ve missed several calls because of that…

So what can you do?

I remember when i first bought a polyphonic capable mobile phone (a SonyEricsson P800), i spent a long time searching for the original (monophonic Ericsson ringtones i was familiar with from the old Ericsson mobiles phones i’ve used (T28, T39)…
When i found them on the net (they were .imy files) i went back to my normal life taking phone calls : )

Fast forward to 2007, iPhone arrives, ringtone nightmare again (the iPhone didn’t work with common ringtone formats)… and Apple didn’t help at first, it was very difficult to use custom ringtones…
Since firmware 1.1.2 Apple finally recognized that people just want options… so we can now have it our own way…

Using GarageBand you can now create our own ringtones… and i did just that…
I created the best iPhone ringtone ever : )
It’s loud, but it’s progressive (because of a nice fade in) and can be used with the Vibrate iPhone feature… giving you time to answer the call before it’s screaming out loud…

And it’s a real phone ringtone, not some freaking Marimba jingle : )

So without any more delay, i give you the perfect iPhone ringtone:

  2. Thanks for this… I noticed that it comes out at 38 seconds and thought that I remembered something about iPhone only recognizing ringtones that were 30 seconds or less. Has that changed?

  3. Hello TjL, actually the limit Apple set was 40 seconds, you can read about it here, “Set up a cycle region that covers the area you wish to use in the GarageBand song. Note: This area must be 40 seconds or less in length.”

  4. For loads and loads of free iPhone ringtones you should take a look at nakko.com It also has an online ringtone editor for those of you without garageband…

  5. Thanks for the ringtone. Very nice! I appreciate it.

  6. Thanks so much for this ringtone! I’ve been using the increasing volume ringtone on my old Ericsson G337 Cellphone years ago. I did not realize how much I missed it since I came across this (Via daring fireball). Actually back then it would vibrate only for a few seconds and then start to ring softly, then getting louder. I just realized this was 13 years ago… Wonder wy no phone does this now.

  11. This is great. Thanks so much. But is it possible to get one that is even louder?

  12. Yes, it can get louder… just add more gain and compress the audio. Maybe i’ll make available a set of ringtones for the iPhone that i personally use and why not make a louder version of this one…

  13. Thank you. It’s a great ringtone that is a definite improvement over the plastic tones Apple provides. I’d love to get a louder one as well - I just don’t have the know-how to follow your directions to get there. Thanks, again!

  31. i always use the free mobile phone ringtones http://www.mobicomet.com/

  32. Thanks a lot, man !!

I was looking for it because I think exactly like you but my hardware is a little bit different: addicted at Ericsson phones from many years, I’m now desperate about the new phones with gadgets and especialy polyphonic sounds. I tried to find some old Ericsson (my last t39 is unfortunately dead) like the GH688 I loved, but the refurbished are so shit and the second hands doesn’t have a long live… And the iPhone it’s not working here (I’m a Macintosh user but living in Venezuela…)

So, finaly I found something very special: a phone without any stupid game or camera or GPS, and in addition, realised by the main Ericsson’s managers for many years. It’s the Sonim and its only fault is to be polyphonic… With your original Ericsson sounds, it’s the better day of my live. Thanks a lot!
