Behringer’s Latest Rip-Off Job: Apple.com

I remember friends of mine who bought products from Behringer, they same they where as good as the original… but cheaper…
I knew back then that it might be as good as, but it was a rip-off, they could sell cheaper because they hadn’t invested money on R&D and design… and that bothered me.

Actually, it still does… that’s why it’s very difficult to me go out and buy copies of original products.
Hey, but that’s just me… feel free to enjoy the new economy!

I love my Apple iMac 24″. I really do, but let’s face it… the 20″ was good enough for me, too bad i had to return it… the LCD panel was just trash… and in trash i mean the worst monitor i’ve seen in an Apple product (not counting the old Peforma monitors)…

The 24″ LCD panel is top notch, too bad Apple put a glass in front of it… i mean, it’s practically a mirror that does some computing ; )
The reflections are something i’ve never seen in any monitor before, not even on CRTs… i had to close the window doors to get away from the reflections during the morning… and trust me, i have a great view from my office window!

Then i tried calibrating the thing and my Pantone Huey gone mad with it… the only way was to do it with the office totally dark!
Moving on, after some time and some hard work, my eyes started to suffer, why? Find all about it on Google! People are complaning about burning eyes because of too much light comming from this thing!!! Even turning brightness all the way down doen’t solve it!

The solution, cut down on the gamma!

I’ve found some posts in Apple Forums regarding a software called Shades, but also read that it also burns too much CPU, and it’s basically an overlay on top of you monitor image.
I’ve found a much better solution, it’s called DarkAdapted X and it’s free! It doesn’t tax you CPU that much and works through gamma values. Although i’m still looking for a way to create a special color profile for this problem (just take down the gamma 25% down of a Huey calibrated color profile).

Regarding the glass, still hopping Apple gives us a replacement for the the mirror glass, maybe just a black frame, please Apple!

I don’t remember seeing this in 1984, but boy when i saw it the first time it never left my mind…
Since my first Macintosh (Apple Macintosh LCII, 1991), i never looked back… thank you Apple!

Update! Forgot to post the first part where Steve Jobs starts the presentation kicking IBM and introducong the 1984 video. I get goose bumps every-time i see this.

So what can you do?

I remember when i first bought a polyphonic capable mobile phone (a SonyEricsson P800), i spent a long time searching for the original (monophonic Ericsson ringtones i was familiar with from the old Ericsson mobiles phones i’ve used (T28, T39)…
When i found them on the net (they were .imy files) i went back to my normal life taking phone calls : )

Fast forward to 2007, iPhone arrives, ringtone nightmare again (the iPhone didn’t work with common ringtone formats)… and Apple didn’t help at first, it was very difficult to use custom ringtones…
Since firmware 1.1.2 Apple finally recognized that people just want options… so we can now have it our own way…

Using GarageBand you can now create our own ringtones… and i did just that…
I created the best iPhone ringtone ever : )
It’s loud, but it’s progressive (because of a nice fade in) and can be used with the Vibrate iPhone feature… giving you time to answer the call before it’s screaming out loud…

And it’s a real phone ringtone, not some freaking Marimba jingle : )

So without any more delay, i give you the perfect iPhone ringtone:

It’s a new paradigm in user interface and will certainly redefine what we expect from mobile devices…

PS: It’s working in Portugal with Vodafone… anyone needing advice on how to make it work… just post your questions in the comments…
