This is why i never bought anything from these guys… and never will.

Behringer’s Latest Rip-Off Job: Apple.com

I remember friends of mine who bought products from Behringer, they same they where as good as the original… but cheaper…
I knew back then that it might be as good as, but it was a rip-off, they could sell cheaper because they hadn’t invested money on R&D and design… and that bothered me.

Actually, it still does… that’s why it’s very difficult to me go out and buy copies of original products.
Hey, but that’s just me… feel free to enjoy the new economy!

Dutch government introduces corporate typeface

“As part of the new brand identity of the Dutch government Peter Verheul designed a custom typeface for all forms of visual communications. This is the result of a new way the Dutch government wants to position themselves into society. Currently there are over 200 departments and ministries which all have different logos and uses different typefaces as their brand identity.”

I think that says a lot about a country…

“Things I Have Learned in my life so far”

Stefan Sagmeister is a well known “graphic designer” these days… although not one of my favorites… i just don’t relate to his work… and i find it hard to classify him as a graphic designer… but having attended one of his conferences (after his short presentation of the “Casa da Música” logo work) i was interested in his project regarding things he has learned so far… not because of his showmanship presenting those things but more about the ideia itself of registering things you learn yourself during a lifetime…

The following sentences are the ones Stefan has learned so far ; )

Complaining is silly. Either act or forget.
Thinking life will be better in the future is stupid, I have to live now.
Being not truthful works against me.
Helping other people helps me.
Organizing a charity group is surprisingly easy.
Everything I do always comes back to me.
Drugs feel great in the beginning and become a drag later on.
Over time I get used to everything and start taking it for granted.
Money does not make me happy.
Traveling alone is helpful for a new perspective on life.
Assuming is stifling.
Keeping a diary supports my personal development.
Trying to look good limits my life.
Worrying solves nothing.
Material luxuries are best enjoyed in small doeses.
Having guts always works out for me.

This inspired me to begin to write down my own things i learned so far… so in the future i’ll begin to post my own.

Art vs. Design

While i was reading some texts online regarding art vs. design i ran across someone saying something like this:

Art is someone using a medium to change the way we see the world, whereas design is changing how we live in it.

Yep, that does it for me… as i usually say, the world should be run by designers ; )
