The MIDI data is sent to the Macintosh computer, where a custom built Max software application is running, collecting data from the sensors. This data is then arranged and analyzed by the software, which will be responsible for what goes through the output. That includes, separating the MIDI data from the Dimension Beam sensors and sending it to an analogue/digital synthesizer controlled by MIDI through the Max software.
It also includes taking information from the I-Cube sensors, through their Max software plug-ins, and transforming it into real action that influences the output (and in some cases the input) like controlling the overall volume of the performance through the Hot sensor connected to the body of the performer.
The software will also assess tracks recorded on an audio CD, selecting them based on information obtained from the sensors, or generated randomly by the software. The information output by the Max software can be from totally predictable to totally unpredictable, and can shift between these extremes both gradually or suddenly. This puts the performer in a situation that he doesn’t know how the action produced by him will turn out in the output, creating an expectation and therefore a close connection between the input and the output, turning it into a very interactive relation.
